biography
Bastián Pino Vásquez is a Chilean visual artist whose practice centers on painting and the critical examination of the Chilean landscape. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad de Chile, graduating in 2025, and is the founder and director of Galería Animita, an independent art space dedicated to emerging contemporary art. Pino Vásquez's work primarily explores the transformation of Chile's natural and urban landscapes through painting, though he also creates three-dimensional objects that complement his pictorial investigations. His artistic practice examines what he terms the "post-landscape" of Chile—a conceptual framework that addresses the intersection of natural environments with contemporary social, political, and economic forces. Through his paintings, he documents and reinterprets the changing Chilean territory, creating works that oscillate between representation and abstraction. As both an artist and cultural manager through Galería Animita, Pino Vásquez actively contributes to Chile's emerging art scene. His dual role allows him to engage with contemporary artistic discourse both through his own practice and by supporting other emerging artists. His work represents a new generation of Chilean artists critically engaging with landscape tradition while addressing current environmental and social concerns.
